These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the BuiltLocal website at built-local.com (the "Site") and the web design and maintenance services ("Services") provided by BuiltLocal ("we," "us," or "our").
By accessing our Site or purchasing our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Services Overview
BuiltLocal provides website design and ongoing website maintenance services for local service businesses. Our Services include:
- Website design and development
- Website copywriting
- Basic on-page SEO setup (page titles, meta descriptions, heading structure)
- Google Business Profile setup assistance
- Website hosting and SSL certificate management
- Ongoing content updates and basic maintenance
- Integration of third-party tools where supported (scheduling embeds, contact forms, review widgets)
The specific scope of work is determined by the plan you select (Starter, Professional, or Premium).
Important: Our websites are designed to look professional, load quickly, work on all devices, and include SEO fundamentals. We do not guarantee specific Google rankings, search traffic, or lead volume, as these depend on many factors outside our control including competition, location, industry, and search engine algorithms.
2. Add-On Services
In addition to our website plans, we offer optional add-on services to help grow your business:
Google Ads Setup + Management
We set up and manage Google Ads campaigns to help drive leads to your new website.
- Setup Fee: $497 one-time
- Management Fee: $149/month (or $1,484/year with annual billing)
What's included: Campaign setup, keyword research, ad copywriting, ongoing optimization, and monthly performance reports.
What's not guaranteed: We do not guarantee a specific number of leads, clicks, or conversions. Results depend on your budget, industry competition, and market conditions. We optimize campaigns to the best of our ability but cannot control how users respond to ads or Google's auction system.
Ad Spend: Your monthly ad budget (paid directly to Google) is separate from our management fee and is determined based on your goals.
AI Chat Assistant
An intelligent chatbot for your website that answers visitor questions 24/7.
- Setup Fee: $297 one-time
- Monthly Fee: $49/month (or $488/year with annual billing)
What's included: Custom AI training on your business, 24/7 automated responses, lead capture, and conversation history.
What's not guaranteed: The AI assistant provides helpful responses based on the information we train it with, but it cannot replace human judgment for complex inquiries. We recommend reviewing chat logs periodically and having a human follow-up process for serious leads.
Review Booster
Automated system to help you collect more Google reviews from happy customers.
- Setup Fee: $197 one-time
- Monthly Fee: $29/month (or $289/year with annual billing)
What's included: Automated review request sequences, SMS and email follow-ups, and review monitoring dashboard.
What's not guaranteed: We cannot guarantee review volume or star ratings. Results depend on your customer satisfaction, response rates, and whether customers choose to leave reviews. We provide the tools and automation; the outcomes depend on your service quality and customer relationships.
Google Business Profile Optimization
Professional setup and optimization of your Google Business Profile listing.
- One-Time Fee: $197
What's included: Complete profile setup, category optimization, photo uploads, service area configuration, and initial post creation.
What's not guaranteed: Rankings in Google Maps or the local pack depend on many factors including reviews, proximity to searchers, and competition. We optimize your profile according to best practices but cannot guarantee specific ranking positions.
3. SMS/Text Messaging Terms
By providing your phone number and engaging with BuiltLocal, you may receive SMS text messages as part of our business communication.
Program Information
- Program Name: BuiltLocal SMS
- Message Frequency: Varies, typically 1-5 messages per conversation
- Message and Data Rates: Standard message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier and plan
Opting Out
You can opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. You will receive a confirmation message and will not receive further texts unless you re-initiate contact.

Privacy
We do not sell or share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes. Your phone number is used exclusively for direct communication between you and BuiltLocal regarding our services. See our Privacy Policy for more details.
Supported Carriers
SMS messaging is supported on all major US carriers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and most regional carriers.
4. Pricing and Payment
Build Fees
The one-time website build fee is due in full before work begins:
- Starter Plan: $897
- Professional Plan: $1,897
- Premium Plan: $3,497
Payment is processed via Stripe. Work does not begin until the build fee is received in full.
Monthly Maintenance Fees
Monthly maintenance is billed on a recurring basis via Stripe:
- Starter: $59/month
- Professional: $99/month
- Premium: $149/month
Monthly billing begins 30 days after your website launches. All prices are in US dollars and may be subject to applicable taxes.
Late Monthly Payments
If a monthly payment fails, we will attempt to process it again per Stripe's automatic retry schedule. If payment is not received within 14 days of the due date, we reserve the right to take your website offline until payment is resolved. We will notify you by email or text before any suspension.
5. Project Process and Timeline
Our process:
- Discovery Call: A brief call to learn about your business and goals
- Content Collection: You provide your business information, logo, and any photos you'd like used
- Design and Build: We design your website and write the copy
- Review: You review the site and provide feedback. One round of revisions is included in your build fee. Additional revision rounds are billed at $75 per hour.
- Launch: Upon your approval (email or text confirmation is fine), we publish your site
Timeline: We target 7 business days from receiving your content to launch for Starter and Professional plans, and 10–14 business days for Premium plans. Timelines may extend if we're waiting on content or feedback from you.
We are not responsible for delays caused by late delivery of your materials or delayed feedback during the review phase.
6. Client Responsibilities
To ensure we can deliver your website on time, you agree to:
- Provide accurate business information
- Supply any logos, photos, or materials you want included, within a reasonable timeframe
- Respond to review requests within 5 business days
- Ensure that all content you provide (text, images, logos) does not infringe on anyone else's intellectual property rights
- Maintain a valid payment method on file for monthly billing
If we don't receive your materials within 30 days of payment, we reserve the right to proceed with placeholder content or pause the project until we hear from you.
7. Intellectual Property and Ownership
Your Content: You own everything you provide to us — your text, logos, images, and brand materials.
The Website We Build: Once your build fee is paid in full, you own the final website including its design, content, and images. If you leave BuiltLocal, we'll export your website files for you at no charge (see Section 7).
What You Don't Own: You may not resell, redistribute, or license BuiltLocal's internal processes, tools, or templates. Ownership applies only to the final website built for your specific business.
Portfolio Use: We may display your completed website in our portfolio and marketing materials unless you tell us otherwise in writing.
8. Monthly Maintenance Plans
Your monthly plan includes:

- Website hosting
- SSL certificate
- Basic security monitoring
- Content backups
- Monthly analytics email
Plan-Specific
- Starter: 1 content update per month, 48-hour email support response
- Professional: 2 content updates per month, 24-hour priority support via text/email/call
- Premium: Unlimited content updates, same-day support, quarterly check-in call
What Counts as a Content Update: A content update is a small change like updating text on a page, swapping an image, adding a new item to a services list, or similar minor modifications.
What Does Not Count as a Content Update: Building new pages, adding new features or functionality, redesigning sections, or major structural changes. These are considered additional work and quoted separately.
Extra Updates: Updates beyond what your plan includes are billed at $75 each.
9. Cancellation and Refunds
Cancelling Your Monthly Plan: You can cancel anytime with 30 days written notice (email to hello@builtlocal.com works). Your site stays live through the end of your current billing period.
After Cancellation: Once your plan ends, we stop hosting, maintaining, and supporting your website. Your site will go offline. We will provide an export of your website files so you or another provider can host it elsewhere.
Build Fee Refunds
- If you cancel before we start any work, you receive a full refund.
- Once work has begun (defined as the start of design or development), the build fee is non-refundable. You are paying for the time and effort to build the site, which begins immediately upon project start.
- If we fail to deliver your website within 30 business days of the agreed timeline due to delays on our end (not yours), you may request a full refund.
Monthly Fee Refunds: Monthly fees are non-refundable for the current billing period. If you cancel mid-cycle, your service continues through the end of that period.
10. Website Hosting
We host your website on Vercel's infrastructure. While we aim for consistent uptime, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access.
We are not responsible for downtime caused by:
- Vercel platform outages
- DNS issues
- Internet service disruptions
- Circumstances beyond our reasonable control
If your site experiences downtime exceeding 24 continuous hours due to something within our control, we will credit your account for the affected period upon request.
11. What We Do Not Guarantee
We want to be upfront about what our service does and does not include:
- We do not guarantee Google rankings. We build your site with SEO best practices (page titles, meta descriptions, fast load times, mobile-friendly design, proper headings), but where your site ranks on Google depends on many factors we cannot control — including your competition, your location, your industry, and Google's algorithms.
- We do not guarantee a specific number of leads, calls, or customers. A website improves your online presence and credibility, but results vary based on your market, your reputation, and other marketing efforts.
- We do not provide ongoing SEO services, paid advertising management, or social media management unless purchased separately as an add-on.
- We do not build custom software, web applications, databases, login systems, or complex e-commerce stores. Our websites are professional marketing sites designed to present your business and generate inquiries. If your project requires functionality beyond what we typically offer, we'll let you know upfront.
- Third-party integrations (Calendly, Google Reviews widgets, contact forms, etc.) are embedded as provided by those platforms. We are not responsible for changes, outages, or limitations imposed by third-party services.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- BuiltLocal's total liability to you for any claim arising from our Services shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to BuiltLocal in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost business, or loss of data.
- We are not liable for the performance of third-party services integrated into your website (Stripe, Calendly, Google, etc.).
13. Indemnification
You agree to hold BuiltLocal harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:
- Content you provide that infringes on someone else's rights
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any applicable law
14. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use your website to:
- Engage in illegal activity
- Distribute spam or malicious content
- Infringe on anyone's intellectual property or privacy rights
- Host content that is defamatory, threatening, or obscene
- Misrepresent your business or identity
We reserve the right to take your site offline if we determine you are violating these terms.
15. Third-Party Services
Our work may involve third-party platforms including:
- Stripe — Payments
- Twilio — SMS/Text messaging
- Calendly / Cal.com — Scheduling
- Google Analytics — Analytics
- Google Business Profile — Local listing
- Google Ads — Paid advertising
- Vercel — Hosting
We are not responsible for the availability, functionality, or policies of these services. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.
16. Dispute Resolution
Informal Resolution First: Before taking legal action, contact us at hello@builtlocal.com and we'll try to work it out. We'll make a good-faith effort to resolve any issue within 30 days.
Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia.
Jurisdiction: Any legal proceedings shall be brought in the state or federal courts located in Fulton County, Georgia.
17. Modifications to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last Updated" date when we do. For changes that meaningfully affect your rights, we'll give you 30 days notice via email before they take effect.
